Read the research report from Stanford: An Evlauation of Offering Online Courses in California's K-12 Schools. See pdf above. Read the introduction, background of K-12 online courses - pp. 1-17.  How effective is K-12 online learning at this time?  What are the crucial elements of successful online courses in terms of design and management?  What do you see as the barriers to online learning effectiveness for secondary students?  What are the teacher proficiency requirements for K-12 online teachers?
Group 2=
Go the California Learning Resource Network and browse the online courses - http://www.clrn.org/browse/index.cfm/online-courses.  Additional K-12 online schools are listed in the week 5 learning activities.  Locate a K-12 online course and describe the subject matter, grade level, purpose, and summary of the review.  Report on the content standard met as well as the online standards met for the course.  Would this be a course you would be interested in teaching online at the secondary level?  Explain.
